I can't sign in to chat on Livestreams

As of September 12th, we became aware of an issue where YouTube chat where sometimes the chat input field loads, but other times it does not. This is a known limitation from YouTube’s side and seems to only affect some mobile iOS devices.
Here are some things you can try:
  • iPhone Safari Users: Some privacy settings prevent you from being able to participate in chat even if you can see it. You can try to enable the recommended setting below.
  • Chrome App on iOS: Enabling “Allow Cross-Site Tracking” can allow chat to load.
  • Alternative Options: If chat still doesn’t appear, you can still continue to watch the livestream on Scrapbook.com and follow along. For the best experience and to chat, we recommend joining from a desktop or laptop computer.
We’ll keep this page updated as YouTube provides fixes. Thank you for your patience and for joining our livestream!

If you are on Safari on MacOS or iOS, you may run into an issue with trying to log in to chat on our site. We use YouTube's integrated chat for Livestreams and need to be able to communicate with YouTube to verify you're signed in. On newer version of Safari, this is blocked by a setting called "Prevent site cross tracking." You can easily disable this in the settings of Safari.

Desktop:

When you're in Safari, click on "safari" in the menu bar and select settings.

Once in settings, select "Privacy."

Disable "Website Tracking: Prevent cross-site tracking."

Close settings and refresh the Livestream page.

If you haven't already logged into YouTube, you may need to do that step again.

Enjoy chatting with your fellow livestream viewers!

iOS:

Open the Settings app, scroll down to "Apps." Top on "Apps," scroll, and tap on Safari.

Scroll to privacy and security and turn off "Prevent Cross-Site Tracking."

Open Safari back up and reload the livestream page.

If you haven't already logged into YouTube, you may need to do that step again.

Enjoy chatting with your fellow livestream viewers!
