International Customs, Duties, and Taxes
Details for New Zealand, Australia, The United Kingdom, and Canada
Will I have to pay extra customs fees when my package arrives?
No. For orders shipping to New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada, packages are shipped Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) to ensure a smooth delivery process.
This means all applicable duties, taxes, and customs fees are automatically calculated and included in your final total at checkout. Because we handle these payments upfront, your package will be delivered directly to your door with no additional customs fees or surprise charges upon delivery.
Are there any specific order value limits for Australian customers?
Yes. Please be aware of the $1,000 AUD threshold for shipments entering Australia:
- Orders under $1,000 AUD are considered low-value goods. The required Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST) is included in your total at checkout, and your package will be delivered directly to your door with no extra fees.
- Orders over $1,000 AUD: While we still ship these packages using our standard delivery method, shipments exceeding $1,000 AUD require a formal import declaration by the Australian Border Force. You will be responsible for paying any additional customs duties, taxes, and formal import processing fees directly to the courier or customs authority at the time of import.
EU Customs & Duty
(Effective July 1, 2026)
Will I have to pay customs fees or taxes on my EU order? Due to new European Union customs regulations that took effect July 1, 2026, how you pay for duties and taxes depends entirely on the value of the goods in your order:
• Orders containing under €150 of goods: All required customs fees, duties, and taxes are paid by scrapbook.com. You will not be responsible for paying these charges directly to the courier or local postal service when you receive your order. They will be prepaid.
• Orders containing over €150 of goods: Customs duties, taxes, and carrier handling fees are not included at checkout. You will be responsible for paying these charges directly to the courier or local postal service when you receive your order.
Why did the process change for orders under €150? The European Union recently removed its duty-free exemption for shipments valued under €150 and introduced new mandatory customs duties on these packages. By covering the cost of these shipments upfront, we ensure your package clears customs smoothly and reaches you as quickly as possible without unexpected delays. Currently, scrapbook.com does not pay the duties, taxes, and carrier handling fees for orders over €150 on behalf of customers. This is the way we have chosen to handle the new European policy required of us. We will monitor the impact of this practice and make adjustments if we deem them merited.
Currency Conversion & EU Customs Thresholds
Are prices and checkout totals displayed in Euros? No. All prices and final checkout totals on our website are calculated and processed in US Dollars (USD). We do not natively convert or display order totals in Euros on our site.
How do I know if my order falls under the €150 EU customs threshold? Because our store operates in USD, it is your responsibility to estimate the conversion from dollars to Euros for your order. If you are trying to stay under the €150 threshold to have customs fees prepaid by scrapbook.com, please be aware that you assume the risk for any exchange rate differences.
Why was my order assessed over €150 by customs when my currency converter said it was under € 150? Exchange rates fluctuate constantly. The conversion rate shown by your browser extension or an online currency converter at the time of checkout may differ from the official exchange rate used by international carriers and EU customs offices on the day your package actually clears customs.
Because we do not control these official exchange rates, we cannot guarantee that the estimated Euro value of your order will perfectly match the final customs assessment. If exchange rate fluctuations cause your order's assessed value to exceed €150, you will be responsible for paying all applicable duties, taxes, and carrier fees upon delivery. The final determination is made by customs using the official exchange rate at the time your shipment clears customs.
Details for all other Countries not listed above
How are customs duties and taxes calculated for my country?
For all international orders shipped outside of the United States (except those specific countries listed above), packages are sent Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU). This means any local customs duties, import taxes, or carrier handling fees are not collected at checkout. Instead, these charges are determined by your country's customs authorities and are the recipient's responsibility. They must be paid by you before or at the time of delivery. We are unable to control or estimate these charges.
Why does the final customs amount differ from the estimate I saw at checkout?
All prices on our website are processed in US Dollars (USD). If you used a browser extension or online calculator to estimate your order value or potential customs fees in your local currency, please note that currency exchange rates fluctuate constantly. Your local customs office calculates duties and taxes based on the official exchange rate on the exact day your package arrives in your country, not the date you placed your order. Because of this timeline gap, the final value assessed by your government may vary slightly from the conversion rate you saw at checkout. Scrapbook.com does not control these official government conversion rates, and any exchange rate risks or unexpected fluctuations are assumed by the customer.
